Oscar Cransac-Chayriguès, a member of Stade Rodez athlétisme, represents Rodez in Slovenia at the European Athletics Road Championships. He has been selected for two events with the France U20 team. The 2026 edition is expected to be the largest ever, with a record number of 593 athletes registered, representing 33 countries. In the exceptional framework of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, the championships will offer classic mountain running events, courses with elevation gain, and trail events. On Friday, June 5, the native of Mur-de-Barrez will start the 3.8 km uphill course, with a positive elevation gain of 410 m. The starting line located at Kisovec (1,250 m altitude) will lead the competitors to Gradisce (1,660 m altitude). Thanks to his excellent performance in May on the Gap highlands, with a second place in the selection race, he has earned his place in the France U20 team, alongside David Discher (Sarreguemines), Yannick Memheld (Véranne), and Emilien Simoneau (Clermont), who make up the France U20 team. After a day of recovery, the Ruthénois athlete will start the Sunday morning uphill and downhill course on a 5.7 km distance. The start and finish will be located in Kamnik, at 380 m altitude, but the athletes will have to climb 325 meters of elevation gain before returning to the starting point. For this course, he will represent France, also in U20, alongside Basile Astier (Brioude), Clément Coudert (Chambéry), and Yannick Memheld (Véranne). At the French championship in Gap, he had finished fourth on this distance. Oscar Cransac-Chayrigues, trained by Benoît Dunet and Simon Fischer, will honor his 4th and 5th caps with the France team. With his enthusiasm and seriousness, he will do everything possible to achieve the best possible ranking.
