Rodez is proud of its young prodigy, Achille Alcouffe, a 17-year-old student at François-d’Estaing High School. With an impressive average of 19.90/20 in mathematics, Achille recently finished sixth in the Toulouse Academy Math Olympiad, ranking among 1,554 participants. This result, while remarkable, leaves a bittersweet taste for the young man who could have competed at the national level had he finished in the top two. Passionate about math, Achille dedicates his free time to practice, filling nearly twenty exercise notebooks in three years. His curiosity for mathematics was sparked by YouTube videos, and he has even attended lectures by renowned mathematician Alain Connes. In addition to mathematics, Achille is also interested in computer programming and practices calisthenics to stay fit. His sister Amandine recalls his early intelligence, having learned some Japanese concepts at a young age. Although he finished sixth in the Olympiad, Achille is already preparing for next year's General Competition, where he hopes to excel in mathematics.
