Rodez’s women’s team has confirmed that Karima Taïeb will extend her contract for another season. The coach, who has been in charge for two years, will lead the squad in Division 3 after their relegation. Rodez, which finished 5th in Ligue 2 last season (58 pts, 15W-13D-6L), is preparing for a new challenge in D3 with 15 departures and five new signings to strengthen the team.
What changes in the squad?
The Rafettes have lost 15 players, including key figures like Éloïse Sévenne (AJ Auxerre) and Déborah Garcia (AJ Auxerre). However, five new players have joined: Louise Demarest (goalkeeper, 18, capped for France U16), Cassandra Hinault (Toulouse FC), Eva Gosselin, Anaïs Mare, and Julie Micard (11 goals with Roubaix last season).
Why did Rodez decline the Ligue 2 reprieve?
President Pierre-Olivier Murat explained that the cost of professional contracts and travel across France was "not possible." Division 3, with its two regional pools (North and South), helps reduce expenses. Rodez will play in Pool B alongside Toulouse, Bordeaux, and the reserves of Lyon, Marseille, and Montpellier.
What are the goals for this season?
Despite relegation, Rodez aims for a strong season in D3. Their first friendly is scheduled for this Saturday against Toulouse FC, while the league season begins on September 13 in Marseille. Captain Sophie Vaysse and other key players remain to guide the young team.
